머리말
- 우리나라 영어교육을 걱정하는 모임으로 시작된 한국어린이미디어교육연구소의 전문가들은 우리나라의(EFL: English as a Foreign Language) 환경에 맞으면서 발달에 적합한 영어교육을 위해 이중언어교육 프로그램을 개발하고, 이중언어교육 전문가에 의한 교사교육을 진행하고 있습니다. 그러던 중 우리는‘쉬운 영어’를 가르쳐 주는 곳이나 커리큘럼이없는 것을 발견했습니다. 그것이 바로 교실에서 사용하는 영어, Classroom English이기에 이것을 연구하고 또 대학의 교육과정으로 개설해서 궁극적으로 그 이익이 어린이에게 돌아가게 하는 노력을 하고 있습니다.
그리고 현직 교사들에게도 혜택을 드릴 수 있는 방안으로 그동안 교실영어에 대한 내용을 구성하고 교사 교육에 사용했던 것을 아주 독특하게 한군데 모아 보았습니다.
- 이 책은 ‘유아영어교육의 이론과 실제’의 부록으로 수록되어 있던 교실 영어를 하나의 학과목으로 전개할 수 있도록 수정∙보완한 것입니다. 본 교재는 유아 및 어린이들에게 영어를 가르치는 교사들의 필독서로, 한 학기 총 14장으로 구성된 내용을 통해 충분히 필요한 언어능력과 수업 기술을 익히는 지침서가 될 것입니다. 개인적으로 좀 더 장기적이고 반복적인 청취를 원하는 학생들을 위해서 KTEFL(www.ktefl.co.kr)에서 제공하는 원어민 동영상 강의를 수강할 수 있습니다. 또한 MP3 파일을 첨부해 언제 어디서든 활용할 수 있도록 제공하고 있어, 본 교재에 수록된 내용을 자기 언어목록으로 기억할 수 있을 것입니다.
- 이 책은 유∙초등 교실에서 사용할 수 있는 교실에서의 지시문을 담도록 하였습니다. 어린이들은 듣고 행동하며 궁극적으로는 이로 인해 EFL(EFL: English as a Foreign Language) 환경에서Cummins가 말하는 어린이들의 기본적 대인관계 의사소통 기술(BICS: Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills) 즉 생활영어에 능숙해질 수 있을 것입니다. 그리고 잘못 사용되는 표현이나 단어에 대해서도 묶어 놓아 고급영어를 하는데 거침돌이 없도록 해보았습니다.
